Helicopter Gorilla Safari to Volcanoes National Park

Day 1: KIGALI- VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK VILLAGE CULTURAL TOUR (25 minutes flight)
09h00: Pick up at your hotel in Kigali and proceed on a morning tour of Kigali city that includes The Kigali Genocide Memorial Center and Inema arts center. (The overall tour will take about two and a half hours).
Highlight; Perhaps the city’s best-known landmark, and with good reason, is the very insightful and moving Kigali Genocide Memorial standing amid beautiful rose gardens and fountains. The memorial sets out the history leading up to the genocide in Rwanda and also explains other genocides around the world. It includes poignant displays of victims’ photographs and belongings, bringing the realities of the atrocities to life. While it might seem an unusual tourist attraction and can be upsetting, it does help to put into context how and why the genocide happened and to better appreciate just how far the country has moved on together in the intervening years. It also plays a vital role in educating Rwanda’s new and future generations about the genocide.

13h00: Have lunch at Heaven Restaurant.
14h30: Transfer to Kigali International Airport for your scenic helicopter flight to VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK, departing at 13h15.

After 25 minutes, you will land at the Musanze airfield. 13h40: Meet our driver guide and you will drive to the Ibyi ‘Iwacu village for a cultural experience.

Iby’ Iwacu is changing the traditional perception of what constitutes tourism by turning fate into fame through sharing various aspects of rural cultures and livelihoods into tourist attractions and creating income-generating activities for rural poor people that have reformed from living on bushmeat and poaching for generations.

Proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
ONE & ONLY GORILLA’S NEST LODGE/BISATE LODGE/SINGITA KWITONDA LODGE (FB I.e. Lunch, Dinner, Bed, and Breakfast)

Day 2: VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (GORILLA TREK)
Early breakfast at the lodge and immediately proceed to the park’s headquarters for the gorilla trekking in Rwanda,  briefing at 7h00 before you start your guided trek at 08h00.

The Volcanoes National Park is a forested area in the Virunga Mountains that border Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This is Rwanda’s premier tourist attraction, with the mist-covered volcanoes of the Virunga being one of only two locations in the world where you can track a habituated family group of mountain gorillas. The high point will be spending an hour with the remarkably peaceful gorillas despite their size and appearance as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting, and raising their young.

After this amazing experience, you will descend from the mountains. Drive to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day relaxing at the Lodge and enjoying its facilities.

Dinner and Overnight.

Day 3: VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (GOLDEN MONKEY TREK) – KIGALI (25 minutes flight)
Rise early, have breakfast, and then transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing before you start your guided Golden Monkey trek at 08h00.

Trekking to see the golden monkeys is another highlight of Volcanoes National Park. The Golden Monkey (Cercopithecus Mitis Kandti) is a local subspecies of the widespread Sykes Monkey, also known as the “Blue Monkey” and is endemic to the high altitude forests. The monkeys are playful and inquisitive and often spend their time leaping from bamboo branches or frolicking on the forest floor. There are two habituated groups of Golden Monkey, one group comprises around 80 – 100 members and has its home at the foot of Mt Sabyinyo.

After this experience, return to the hotel at around midday for lunch. Brief rest. At 15h30, assistance with check out and settlement of extras. Proceed to Musanze airstrip for your scheduled flight to Kigali, departing at 16h30. Land at the Kigali International Airport.
