Chimpanzee Tracking

When you talk of chimpanzee trekking, Rwanda’s Nyungwe Forest National Park should flash right in front of your eyes. Any of the two habituated chimpanzee communities will make your visit go gaga but watching them exhibit human-like characters will make you fall permanently in love with them.

Canopy Walk

If you ever ask where the most exhilarating canopy walk is conducted, the answer will always be Nyungwe Forest, National Park. The 160 meters long and 70 meters high suspension bridge above the ravine within the verdant montane rainforest offers an exciting way of viewing the treetops, wildlife-black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and bird species among others.

Nature walk

An enriching nature walk through the lush Nyungwe Forest would involve encountering breathtaking waterfalls, unique tree species, various species of birds including the Albertine Rift endemics, wildlife species some of which are primates, and many others. The second-largest National Park in Rwanda (the largest being Akagera National Park) is a spectacular work of art by Mother Nature that can be best explored through walking through the forest. With over 15 nature walk trails such as the popular Igishigishigi trail, Bigugu, Isumo waterfall trail, and Kamiranzovu wetland trail among others, you can never run out of options for walking through this verdant forest. The most interesting thing is that each of these trails offers an extraordinary experience with varying attractions.

Colobus Walk
The walk leads you to the large troops of black and white colobus monkeys residing within the Park. The Colobus Monkeys can often be sighted in large groups of up to 300 Colobus Monkey, quite a chatter and quite the sight. AS you track any primate group, you will most likely spot some other monkeys along the trek such as L’Hoest’s Mountain Monkey, Owl Faced Monkey, Mona Monkey, and Blue Monkeys, to name a few.

 Isumo Walk

Isumo walk is one of the most beautiful trails in Nyungwe Forest, approximately 10.6 kilometers long which last over four hours closely with tea plantation and lush green vegetation. A walk to this trail offers you en-route species such as birds, butterflies, and numerous primates such as Vervet monkeys and Angola black and white colobus monkeys among others.
