15 Days Wild Extra Gorilla Trekking Safari, gorilla tracking Uganda

Day 1: Arrival Entebbe Airport (Travel time +10mins)

You’ll be picked from the airport and transferred to a hotel in Entebbe for dinner and overnight at The Boma Hotel in Entebbe just 10 minutes drive from the Airport. Meal plan: Dinner

Day 2: Kampala- Murchison Falls National Park (Travel time +5hrs)

Begin the panoramic drive north-west through the famous Luwero Triangle and, travel to Masindi via Ziwa Rhino Project. A visit to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino trekking is a must. After lunch, drive to Murchison Falls National Park with Ferry crossing to the Northern side. Overnight and dinner at Parra Safari Lodge Meal Plan B-L-D

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park

Begin the day with a cup of African Coffee. Your guide will help you spot Elephant, Lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck,  Bohor reedbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. Return to the hotel for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. En-route, marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob crocodile.  This is also a zone of many bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. There you leave the boat and start your – quite heavy – hike to the Top of the Falls (approx. 1 hour). See where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you to bring you back to the lodge.

At 0600 pm in the evening you go for a night game drive to search for nocturnal animals up to 1000pm in the night. Return and overnight and dinner at Parra Safari Lodge Meal Plan B-L-D

Day 4: Murchison Falls –Lake Albert (Travel time +3hrs)

Leave Murchison for Hoima; drive at your convenience through the great escapements of Biso for a great winding scenery of Lake Albert. The afternoon is spent on sightseeing and relaxation. Overnight and meals at Lake Albert Safari Lodge Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5: Kibale Forest National Park (Travel time +5hrs)

After breakfast drive to a place that rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon with enroute lunch at your preferred local hotel or restaurant. Meals and overnight at Primate Lodge in a sky tree House Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 6: Kibale Chimpanzee Habituation Experience

Today is dedicated for Chimpanzee Habituation Experience. Start the day with an morning early breakfast – a packed lunch and you are off before dawn breaks into the forest.  You meet your guide and you are off to where the chimpanzees built nests the night before. Dawn is just breaking and the chimpanzee community you are going to be with the rest of the day is rising from their sleep in the nests.

Your day will be full, your camera will fill up with quality pictures of the chimpanzees and you will get to learn to identify them as individuals by their markings, sometimes scars and other unique features that make them stand apart from rest. Besides everything described there are the most colorful butterflies, plants and trees that will amaze you –the setting is simply awesome. Day 7: Kibale –Queen Elizabeth NP (Travel time +3hrs)

After an early morning breakfast, ready for Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, you will take on a guided walk around the Swamp which will provide you with the opportunity to see a wide range of flora and fauna. View a variety of butterflies, birds and other insects. Thereafter drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park viewing the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range for much of the journey at leisure. After lunch, take on an afternoon Launch cruise along Kazinga Channel – one that joins Lakes Edward and George. The cruise is a wonderful way to see hippo, buffalo, kob and the occasional Nile crocodile (which up until recently did not inhabit this area) and a spectacular bird watching on the water bank. Day 8: Queen Elizabeth –Ishasha (Travel time +2hrs)

Begin your day with a cup of coffee. Early morning games drive with Lion Tracking Experiential Research Tour along Kasenyi and Queens Mile. Other wildlife to encounter includes elephants, buffalo, water bucks, warthogs, lions, spotted hyenas, bush bucks, stripped jackal, comical warthogs, elusive leopard, Uganda Kobs, lakes and a variety of birds. Later proceed to Ishasha sector where you will take on yet another evening game drive in search of tree climbing lions. Day 9: Ishasha-Bwindi (Travel time +1.5hrs)

Early morning guided bush walk for a closer interaction with nature. The mid-morning will be spent on a game drive for the tree climbing lions. Thereafter head to Bwindi, the journey takes about 2 hours but driving through interesting features. Arrive Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This park is home of the rare mountain gorillas. Apart from gorillas, there are a wide variety of primates to see including the blue and red tailed monkeys. The forest itself is lush and green and there are streams running through it. Day 10: Bwindi Gorilla Tracking

After breakfast set off early with guides to track the gorillas. The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Bring jungle boots and rain jackets because the park is often wet. Spend time in awe watching the gorillas go about their activities. Each gorilla safari encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a magnificent green swathe of dense rainforest, so ancient that survived the last ice age. A recently proclaimed World Heritage site, it’s one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and its unique, precious flora sustains roughly half of the world population of mountain gorillas – believed to number just 720. There’s also a substantial chimpanzee population and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa in which these two apes live together. Time permitting, spend the afternoon on a community foot safari to explore the life style of the people living and surrounding the park. Day 11: Second Gorilla trekking

After breakfast, you will go for the second gorilla trekking expedition but in another group returning in the afternoon for relaxation and sightseeing around the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at Silver back Lodge Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 12:  Batwa Cultural experience

Today is dedicated for a Batwa experience where the Batwa demonstrate hunting techniques, gather honey, point out medicinal plants and demonstrate how to make bamboo cups. Women of the community perform a sorrowful song which echoes and leaves guests with a moving sense of the richness of this fading culture. Dinner and overnight stay at Silver back Lodge Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 13:   Bwindi – Lake Mburo NP (Travel time +5hrs)

After early breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park via Igongo cultural village, this is the place where the future meets the past. Learn more about the Ankole culture. Proceed to the park do an enroute game drive as you go to check in at your lodge. An afternoon boat ride amidst hippos is much rewarding and amazing. Overnight stay at Mantana Tented Camp Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 14: Lake Mburo NP

Morning game drive in the Park which is an is an extension of the Tanzanian Plains with big herds of Zebra, Impala, Eland , Warthogs ,buffalo and other savannah species. For birders, this is one of the best place to find African Fin foot, Papyrus, Bush Shrike, etc. The evening is spent on a bush walk for wildlife viewing. Overnight stay at Mantana Tented Camp Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 15: Lake Mburo-Entebbe Departure (Travel time +4.5hrs)

After early breakfast, Morning is dedicated for sightseeing and relaxation; thereafter drive back to Entebbe at your convenience with a stopover at Equator crossing with your lunch enroute before you drive to back to Entebbe Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner End of Service
