11 Days Chimpanzees Gorillas & Golden Monkey Trekking Safari

Day 1: Arrival Entebbe Airport-Entebbe/Kampala (Travel Time +1hrs)

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide who will then take you to Entebbe Airport Guest House/Forest Cottages Kampala (Budget end) for an overnight and dinner. Meal plan Dinner

Day 2: Kampala-Kibale National Park (Travel Time +5hrs)

Leave Kampala after breakfast for the fascinating drive through papyrus swamps and thick jungle of the Nile Delta to Kibale National Park just under the Rwenzori Mountains National Park . Afternoon guided walk in the crater lakes area of the park for outstanding cultural visit. Meals and over night at Chimpanzee Guest House (Budget facility). Meal plan: (B, L, D)

Day 3: Kibale Chimpanzee Habituation Experience

Today is dedicated for Chimpanzee Habituation Experience. Start the day with an morning early breakfast – a packed lunch and you are off before dawn breaks into the forest.  You meet your guide and you are off to where the chimpanzees built nests the night before. Dawn is just breaking and the chimpanzee community you are going to be with the rest of the day is rising from their sleep in the nests.

Your day will be full, your camera will fill up with quality pictures of the chimpanzees and you will get to learn to identify them as individuals by their markings, sometimes scars and other unique features that make them stand apart from rest. Besides everything described there are the most colorful butterflies, plants and trees that will amaze you –the setting is simply awesome. Day 4:  Kibale – Primate visit Kyambura Queen Elizabeth NP (Travel Time +2hrs)

In the morning, drive to the south into Queen Elizabeth National Park, sightseeing and game viewing enroute. Afternoon ready for guided Chimpanzee/primate walk along Kyambura Gorge to look for habituated chimps through the gorge.  Dinner and overnight at Wild Track Safari Lodge (Budget facility) Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5:  Queen Elizabeth Park

Dawn game drive in Uganda’s best park, where all the big game can be seen in abundance. Famous for elephant and Kob, expect to see some rarer animals like giant forest hog. There are 638 recorded bird species in the park! After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes Edward and George, for large numbers of buffalo and hippo. Dinner and overnight at Wild Track Safari Lodge (Budget facility)

Day 6:  Queen Elizabeth NP-Bwindi (Travel Time +4hrs)

With previous day’s memories, enjoy your breakfast proceed to Ishasha. You will drive along the deep and wide dry craters that are occupied by savanna grasses and acacia. The drive takes you through the unique western rift valley escarpment and the (southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park) Ishasha sector where you will take on a game drive in search of tree climbing lions before proceeding to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

The journey takes about 4 hours but driving through interesting features. Arrive Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the evening. This park is home of the rare mountain gorillas. Apart from gorillas, there are a wide variety of primates to see including the blue and red tailed monkeys. The forest itself is lush and green and there are streams running through it. Day 9:  Bwindi Gorilla tracking

After breakfast set off early with guides to track the gorillas. The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Bring jungle boots and rain jackets because the park is often wet. Spend time in awe watching the gorillas go about their activities. Each gorilla safari encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a magnificent green swathe of dense rain forest, so ancient that survived the last ice age. A recently proclaimed World Heritage site, it’s one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and its unique, precious flora sustains roughly half of the world population of mountain gorillas – believed to number just 720. There’s also a substantial chimpanzee population and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa in which these two apes live together. Time permitting, spend the afternoon on a community foot safari to explore the life style of the people living and surrounding the park. Return to camp exhilarated to relieve the encounter with friends over a drink. Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Community Bandas (Budget facility) Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 9:  Second Gorilla trekking

After breakfast, you will go for the second gorilla track but in another group returning in the afternoon for relaxation and sightseeing around the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Community Bandas (Budget facility) Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 10: Bwindi-Parc Volcanoes (Travel Time +3hrs)

After breakfast, drive to Rwanda as you enjoy the rolling hills for which Rwanda is well known to Ruhengere via Musanze. Arriving at Parc Volcanoes in the afternoon. The evening is spent on sightseeing and relaxing around the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at Le’Bambou Gorilla Lodge (Budget facility) Meal Plan Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 11: Golden Monkey Trekking Parc Volcanoes -Kigali (Travel Time +2.5 hrs)

After a briefing from your guide set off to track the Golden Monkeys. Spend an hour in awe watching the Golden monkeys. You are likely to enjoy close views of adults feeding, grooming and resting as youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display. Return to Kigali. Time permitting visit the Genocide memorial center before being transferred to Kigali Airport for your out bound flight.  End of service Meal plan: Breakfast & Lunch
